WikiconNL 2022

WikiconNL is the annual conference about Wikipedia, Wikimedia, digital heritage and free access to information in a changing world.

Theme

The theme of the conference is ‘Back to the Future’.
After two years of living with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to turn our gaze back to the future and consider together how to future-proof our Wikimedia community and projects.

Where and When?

WikiconNL will take place on Saturday 19 November 2022 in Seats2meet in Utrecht.

Programme

It will be a promising programme with interesting speakers including European member of parliament Kim van Sparrentak who will deliver the keynote on the tension between free knowledge and European copyright reform. Fellow Wikipedians from Ukraine will tell how they continue to work on Wikimedia despite the war. In addition, partners from the cultural sector, such as The New Institute and the Royal Library, will elaborate on the use of Wikimedia projects for Linked Open Data. Volunteers will present the results of their hack-a-thon and a new project on fashion. There will also be a fringe programme including exhibitions, a market with book swaps and a Wikimedia merchandise give-away stall. New this year is a poster session where you can present your project or interest.
